HD video straight to DVD with the Canon HR10

The world’s smallest AVCHD DVD camcorder

NEWS: 14 May 2007 10:42 GMT by Amy-Mae Elliott

The Canon HR10 will give users the power to record stunning 1080i High Definition movies straight to regular 8cm DVDs, make Standard Definition (SD) videos for playback on a normal TV, and shoot high resolution stills. To watch HD movies, the camcorder connects easily to an HD-ready TV via HDMI. For gadget lovers, discs can also be played back in Blu-ray players. A comprehensive suite of software for managing AVCHD footage also comes supplied.

The HR10 benefits from technologies first developed for Canon’s professional HD line up, including Instant AF and the Super Range Optical Imager Stabilizer (OIS). While Instant AF achieves precise auto focus at super fast speeds, Super Range OIS combines two image stabilisation techniques to vastly reduce the effects of camera shake – both of these unique innovations make shooting great looking HD movies easy.

In addition, the HR10 inherits Canon’s high quality 25p Cinema Mode: first introduced on the HV20, this is the easiest way for enthusiasts to achieve the look and feel of a traditional film.

The HR10 camcorder will be available from the mid-August, pricing to be confirmed.
