Epson's latest consumer printer line-up revealed

Lots of new models in time for Christmas

Epson has announced a whole pile of new printers - from compact PictureMates designed to be used on the go, to all-in-ones that claim lab quality results.

The new Epson PictureMate PM260 and PictureMate PM290 are the latest speedy personal and portable photo printers. Printing a 6x4 photo in 37 seconds, they are described as the ultimate photo printers for people who love to share, show off and get creative with their snaps.

The compact size and optional battery pack make them the perfect printer for people on the move. Just pop your memory card into the slot, review your images on the large LCD, colour screen and hit print.

For printing off photos from your mobile or PDA wirelessly, both PictureMates offer Bluetooth connectivity. Whilst the PM290 includes Bluetooth connectivity as standard, whereas the PM260 needs an adptor. The PM290 also lets you view photos from a disc and save them to CD.

The PictureMate PM260 is £99.99, the PictureMate PM290 is £199.99.

The Stylus Photo RX685 and RX585 are the latest "hi-definition" photo all-in-ones from Epson apparently capable of producing sharp, vibrant prints and copy and scan at high speeds. The individual ink cartridges mean you only have to change the one that has run out.

The Stylus Photo RX685 and RX585 deliver prints at 23 and 27 seconds respectively and come Epson's PhotoEnhance software. They are capable of printing directly onto CD and DVD faces.

The Stylus Photo RX585 is £129.99, the Stylus Photo RX685 is £199.99.

The new Epson Stylus Photo R285 is the "choice for photo enthusiasts seeking brilliant results at an affordable price." Quality photos are produced in just 27 seconds, a draft photo in 12 seconds. The printer comes complete With Epson Creativity Suite software and PhotoEnhance software.

The Stylus Photo R285 will print directly onto CDs or DVDs faces and features individual ink cartridges so only the colour that is used is replaced.

Stylus Photo R285 is £69.99.

The new Epson Stylus DX7400 Series and Epson Stylus DX8400 Series more-in-one printers are perfect for lab quality photos, scanning and copying and fast print speeds. Epson claim the new printers combine everything you need for everyday printing and the demands of the home office.

A memory card slot is included for computer free photo printing. The Epson Stylus DX7400 and Epson Stylus DX8400 guarantee superb results with their fast print speeds of up to 32ppm text and approximately 26 seconds for a 10x15cm draft borderless photo. Both models also feature Epson PhotoEnhance software while the DX8400 comes with the added extra of a 6.3cm LCD viewer to preview and print photos without the need for a PC.

THe Epson Stylus DX7400 and Epson Stylus DX8400 are £79.99 and the Epson Stylus DX8400 with additional features is £99.99.
