Nikon releases major updates for ViewNX

Fixes now available

NEWS: 14 December 2007 12:15 GMT by Katie Scott

Nikon has released version 1.0.3 of ViewNX with a raft of improvements and bug fixes.

The major update includes improvements for the thumbnails of movie files created by Nikon cameras or software.

A thumbnail of the first frame of .MOV, .AVI, .WMV, and MPEG-1 movie files recorded by Nikon digital cameras, or created with a Nikon application, will now be displayed in Thumbnail Grid mode. These files can then be played back in the image view area.

Nikon has also added compatibility with externally-added IPTC metadata information. Previously, when image files with which IPTC information had been embedded using a third-party application, such as Adobe Photoshop CS3, were opened in ViewNX, the application quit unexpectedly.

Automatic fall off compensation has been added for images taken with 70-200mm and 80-200mm Nikkors on the new FX-sensored D3 DSLR.

Delete, Output, Next, and Previous options have been added to the Image View area context menu in Image Viewer mode; and a Copy Camera Settings option has been added to the Camera Settings palette context menu.

Nikon says it has also cleaned up the Camera Settings palette as well as the Thumbnail area in the Thumbnail Grid mode.

The updates for ViewNX are available for both Mac and Windows users and are downloadable from Nikon Technical Support.
