Manuel took inspiration from ancient telescopic instruments, whereby all the mechanics fit inside a barrel optimizing it for one-handed operated. This apparently should make it easier to hold steady, removing the need for optical stabilisation and maybe even tripods. An interesting design, none the less, but whether we will ever see anything like this hit the market remains to be seen.

The reason SLRs have several dials and buttons is so that the photographer has immediate access to important settings: shutter speed, aperture, ISO, and white balance all need to be selected for a given shoot. Two buttons isn't going to cut it.
I like the idea of putting everything into the barrel, but it's not clear that it's the best way to support the photographer's needs.
