NEWS: 20 May 2008 9:09 GMT by Amy-Mae Elliott

Toshiba has announced that its Camileo Pro HD SD camcorder is now available to buy in the UK.

The model launches with some good news for the consumer - namely that it's going on sale at a typical purchase price of £139.99 - which is £10 cheaper than the £149.99 quoted at launch in February.

The Camileo Pro HD is a pocket sized digital video camera that boasts a 5-megapixel CMOS sensor, which is able to shoot HD footage at a resolution of 1280 x 720p at 30fps.

All video is encoded in the H.264/MPEG4 format and can be recorded to the 128MB integrated storage, although more of use is the fact that the Camileo Pro HD also supports up to 32GB SDHC cards, offering the ability to capture up to 16 additional hours of film. As a rough guide, the Camileo Pro HD offers approximately 30 minutes HD video per gigabyte of memory.

As well as capturing high def video, the Camileo Pro HD can be used as a stills camera, offering 3x optical and 4x digital zoom, and is able to produce still images at an equivalent of 11-megapixel resolution - using interpolation.

All images shot on the Toshiba Camileo Pro HD can be viewed back on its 2.4-inch TFT LCD display, which rotates to a 270 degree angle or there's hook up to a HD ready TV possible via the HDMI output.

The multi-tasking little cam also offers a voice recording function, support for MP3 playback and can also be used as a mass storage device, with USB 2.0 connectivity also available for transfer to PCs for editing or storage.
