Nikon release Capture NX2

Aimed at enthusiasts and pros

NEWS: 3 June 2008 5:01 GMT by Chris Hall

Nikon have announced the launch of their latest photo editing software, Capture NX2.

Capture NX2, an upgrade to Capture NX that was introduced in 2006, is intended for photographers looking to achieve quick and effective image enhancement with an easy-to-use package, aimed at enthusiasts as well as professional users.

Ludovic Drean, Product Manager Software at Nikon Europe B.V. comments: "Having received so much valuable feedback from our customers using Capture NX we’ve developed a new generation software package which will satisfy any demanding photographer by offering amazing and effortless results without comprising quality".

Major new features include: Selection Control Point, Auto Retouch Brush, Shadow/Highlight adjustments, greater Workspace control, Quick Fix toolbar, simultaneous opening of multiple settings, and Label/Rating support (XMP).

Capture NX2 supports NEF (RAW), JPEG and TIFF files.

In addition to these new features, the Capture NX2 has further enhanced its tried-and-tested features to create Nikon’s most efficient and most effective image processing software to date. Capture NX2 is compatible with both Windows Vista and XP and Macintosh OS X (version 10.4.11, 10.5.2).

Capture NX 2 will be available as of 20 June 2008, priced at £129.99 for the full retail boxed version, or £79.99 as an upgrade from Capture NX.

It will also be available to download, and Nikon will be offering a 60-day trial period.
