The D3 and two Nikkor lenses get recognition

NEWS: 22 August 2008 12:01 GMT by Verity Burns

Camera brand of the moment Nikon, has scored two awards at the prestigious European Imaging and Sound Association Awards.

The winners at the annual awards are chosen by audio, video and photo magazines from across 19 European countries.

This year, Nikon picked up the European Professional Camera 2008-2009 award with its Nikon D3 D-SLR, and European Professional Lens 2008-2009 for its two Nikkor lenses - the AF-S 14-24mm f/2.8G ED and the AF-S 24-70mm f/2.8G ED.

The judges said of the D3, that it offered "amazing image quality", "high-speed operation and focusing and "low levels of noise, even at high ISO settings." All in all, they labelled it "the ideal DSLR for all-round professional photographers."

As for the Nikkor lenses, the EISA jury said they delivered "high optical quality" and helped to "project Nikon’s FX D-SLR system to the forefront of the market".

Both the D3 and the AF-S Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8G ED also picked up TIPA awards earlier this year, for best professional D-SLR and best professional lens respectively. The D300 was also given the nod for best expert D-SLR.

Robert Cristina, professional products and NPS manager at Nikon Europe said: "We are delighted that our engineering efforts have been recognised so comprehensively again, as they were for the TIPA awards earlier this year. These two awards affirm our commitment to providing the best imaging and optical technologies in the photography business."
